Civic Involvement
Central Bank has been heavily involved in the Northeast Chamber of Commerce for many years. Every spring, Central Bank hosts the NE Cultural Arts Program which displays an array of local artists displaying their multi-cultural works of art. There are monthly meetings that focus our energy on how to make our neighborhood a thriving place to work and live. Bill Dana, President and CEO of Central Bank recently served as the chair of Missouri Bankers Association and is the current chair of the Community Development Banker’s Association. He also chairs the Don Bosco Board (a multi-faceted organization that aids youth, families, high school students and senior citizens, and also sits on the board for KCUMB, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.
Every year, Central Bank adopts a home through the Christmas in October Program. Employees donate the second Saturday of the month of October, and help a needy homeowner with repair tasks in their home. Many of the people we have helped are on disability or are elderly. They are so excited when we bring our team to help paint, rake leaves, and make other much needed repairs around their home.
Central Bank is partners with many Hispanic organizations including Mattie Rhodes Center, The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, The Guadalupe Center, El Centro, Harvest of America, Westside CAN Center and HEDC, the Hispanic Economic Development Corporation. Twice a year we sponsor HEDC’s small business workshop in two different areas that address topics such as business marketing, finances, and business plans. We help at an annual Back to School event for the Westside CAN Center, where school supplies are given to needy children in the community.
KC CASH Coalition is an organization that helps the low to moderate income person with their tax preparation. Central Bank is heavily involved in this organization, contributing to committees and volunteering time during tax season. This organization also helps educate the public about EITC, Earned Income Tax Credits. The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a refundable federal income credit designed for individuals and families who earn low-to-moderate incomes. EITC can reduce tax liability, or it can even provide a sizable refund when no taxes were withheld.
All of these organizations help Central Bank be a part of the community in a big way. There are other organizations not mentioned here that are very important to Central Bank where we donate time and resources. At Central Bank of Kansas City, we are small enough to care, but big enough to help!
